Zdravljica became the official Slovenian national anthem when the country became independent in 1991. The text dates from the nineteenth century and was written by France Prešeren, while Stanko Premrl’s setting was first performed in 1917.
Our piano arrangement has an orchestral character and features three- or four-voice polyphony. Despite this, it is quite easy to play. We have taken great care to keep it simple for a solo pianist.
